(Adnkronos) - Bill Gates, una delle persone più ricche del mondo, ha dichiarato in privato di aver recentemente donato circa 50 milioni di dollari a un'organizzazione no-profit che sostiene la corsa presidenziale della vicepresidente Usa Kamala Harris, si legge sul New York Times.
La donazione doveva rimanere segreta. Gates, uno dei fondatori di Microsoft, non ha appoggiato pubblicamente Harris e la sua donazione rappresenterebbe un cambiamento significativo nella strategia che in passato lo ha tenuto lontano da 'regali' come questo. Gates avrebbe espresso preoccupazione per una eventuale seconda presidenza di Donald Trump.
“Sostengo i candidati che dimostrano un chiaro impegno per migliorare l'assistenza sanitaria, ridurre la povertà e combattere il cambiamento climatico negli Stati Uniti e nel mondo”, ha dichiarato al New York Times. “Questa elezione è diversa, con un significato senza precedenti per gli americani e per le persone più vulnerabili di tutto il mondo”, ha aggiunto.
