(Adnkronos) - Gli Stati Uniti inviano nuove armi all'Ucraina in una fase cruciale della guerra con la Russia. Alla vigilia della sua partenza per la Germania, Joe Biden ha parlato oggi con Volodymyr Zelensky, che domani sarà a Bruxelles per incontri alla Nato e con la Ue.Â
Mentre il leader ucraino si appresta a presentare il suo Piano per la vittoria, per porre fine al conflitto, il presidente americano annuncia "un nuovo pacchetto di sicurezza di 425 milioni di dollari di aiuti militari all'Ucraina, che comprendono altre difese aree, munizioni aria-terra, veicoli corazzati e altri munizioni cruciali per le necessità urgenti dell'Ucraina", rende noto la Casa Bianca in un comunicato in cui riferisce che nella telefonata Biden "ha aggiornato Zelensky sui suoi sforzi di aumentare l'assistenza militare a Kiev nei mesi che rimangono del suo mandato".Â
"Nei prossimi mesi, gli Stati Uniti forniranno all'Ucraina una vasta gamma di altri mezzi militari", aggiunge la nota, sottolineando che, da parte sua, il presidente ucraino ha "aggiornato Biden sul suo piano per ottenere una vittoria sulla Russia e i due leader hanno assegnato ai loro team il compito di portare avanti altre consultazioni per i prossimi passi".Â
Zelensky , con un post su X, Biden e gli Stati Uniti "per il loro incrollabile sostegno" all'Ucraina. In un post su X, nel sottolineare "la leadership del presidente americano nell'unire il mondo". Il presidente ucraino si dice "grato a Biden, a entrambi i partiti del Congresso e al popolo americano per il pacchetto di difesa da 425 milioni di dollari annunciato oggi, che comprende nuovi sistemi di difesa aerea e - evidenzia - armi a lungo raggio".Â
Quest'ultimo dettaglio appare particolarmente importante per Zelensky. L'Ucraina da oltre 2 mesi ha invaso la regione russa di Kursk, arrivando a controllare - secondo Kiev - circa 1200 km quadrati. Zelensky ha chiesto, senza ottenerlo, il via libera per utilizzare armi a lungo raggio occidentali per colpire obiettivi militari in territorio russo. Biden non ha autorizzato l'uso di missili a lungo raggio Atamcs al di là del confine ma, come dimostra l'annuncio di oggi, continua a fornire armi in grado di colpire in profondità il territorio nemico.Â
