(Adnkronos) - Kamala Harris incontra Volodymyr Zelensky e critica Donald Trump. La vicepresidente degli Stati Uniti riceve il presidente dell'Ucraina e ribadisce il sostegno di Washington a Kiev nella guerra contro la Russia. Harris, nel suo intervento davanti ai media, stigmatizza le posizioni di Trump senza nominare il candidato repubblicano alle elezioni del 5 novembre. "Per essere onesta le devo dire Mr president che c'è chi nel mio Paese che vorrebbe costringere l'Ucraina a cedere gran parte del suo territorio sovrano, che chiede che accetti la neutralità e rinunci a relazioni di sicurezza con altri Paesi", dice Harris sottolineando che "sono le stesse proposte di Vladimir Putin". "E siamo chiari non sono proposte di pace, ma sono proposte di resa, pericolose e inaccettabili", aggiunge.Â
"Gli Stati Uniti sostengono non per carità ma perché è nel nostro interesse strategico", dice Harris, assicurando che "continueremo a dare all'Ucraina il sostegno di cui ha bisogno per avere successo sul campo di battaglia".Â
"Dobbiamo difendere i nostri valori democratici e schierarci contro gli aggressori, e dobbiamo difendere l'ordine internazionale - dice ancora Harris - ciascuno di questi principi è in gioco in Ucraina ed è per questo che la lotta dell'Ucraina è importante per il popolo americano".Â
"L'aggressione di Putin non è solo un attacco al popolo ucraino - continua la vice presidente - è anche un attacco ai principi fondamentali di sovranità e integrità territoriale. La storia ci ha mostrato - ha poi proseguito - che se noi permettiamo ad aggressori come Putin di prendere delle terre impunemente, continuano a procedere. E Putin potrebbe mettere gli occhi sulla Polonia, i Paesi Baltici ed altri alleati Nato".Â

Il presidente ucraino è stato definito dal candidato repubblicano "il miglior piazzista sulla faccia della Terra: ogni volta che viene nel nostro paese, se ne va con 60 miliardi". Quindi, Trump è passato ad un attacco frontale: "Quelle città sono andate, sono distrutte e noi continuiamo a dare miliardi a un uomo che rifiuta di concludere un accordo, Zelensky. Qualsiasi accordo sarebbe stato migliore della situazione che c'è ora: c'è un paese raso al suolo, impossibile da ricostruire".Â
