(Adnkronos) - Hashem Safieddine, capo del Consiglio esecutivo di Hezbollah e successore designato di Nasrallah alla guida del movimento sciita, è morto durante un attacco al quartier generale principale dell'intelligence di Hezbollah nel sobborgo di Dahieh, a Beirut, circa tre settimane fa. Ad annunciarlo sono le Forze di difesa israeliane, che in una nota confermano anche la morte di Ali Hussein Hazima, comandante del quartier generale dell'intelligence di Hezbollah.Â
"Hashem Safieddine - si legge nel comunicato delle Idf - era membro del Consiglio della Shura, il più importante forum politico-militare di Hezbollah, responsabile del processo decisionale e dell'elaborazione delle politiche dell'organizzazione terroristica. Hashem era cugino di Hassan Nasrallah, l'ex leader di Hezbollah, e ha avuto un'influenza significativa sul processo decisionale all'interno di Hezbollah. Durante i periodi in cui Nasrallah era assente dal Libano - continuano le Idf -, Hashem ha ricoperto il ruolo di Segretario generale di Hezbollah". Â
"Nel corso degli anni, Safieddine ha diretto attacchi terroristici contro lo Stato di Israele e ha preso parte ai processi decisionali centrali di Hezbollah. Insieme a Hashem, è stato eliminato anche il terrorista Ali Hussein Hazima, comandante del quartier generale dell'intelligence di Hezbollah, responsabile di aver diretto numerosi attacchi contro i soldati dell'Idf", conclude la nota.Â
L’Idf, spiega quindi il Times of Israel, ha affermato che più di 25 membri della divisione di intelligence di Hezbollah erano nel quartier generale quando è stato effettuato l’attacco, compresi altri alti comandanti.Â
Safieddine non era più stato contattato dopo l'attacco, ma solo oggi l'Idf ha affermato di poter confermare la sua morte. Ancora nessuna conferma, invece, da parte di Hezbollah.Â

Safieddine, 59 anni, è stato a lungo considerato il "braccio destro" di Nasrallah, un uomo discreto ma potente, responsabile dell'amministrazione finanziaria e organizzativa di Hezbollah. Sebbene non sia stato un volto pubblico di primo piano, ha giocato un ruolo cruciale nella gestione interna del partito, lasciando al suo cugino maggiore la guida strategica e politica.Â
L'influenza di Safieddine non si è limitata al Libano, ma si è estesa anche all'Iran, dove ha trascorso anni studiando a Qom, centro nevralgico dell'istruzione religiosa sciita. I suoi stretti legami con Teheran si sono ulteriormente consolidati nel 2020, quando suo figlio Rida ha sposato Zainab Soleimani, figlia del generale Qassem Soleimani, comandante della Forza Quds iraniana ucciso in un attacco statunitense.Â
