(Adnkronos) - Hamas ha rinviato di un anno l'attacco ad Israele, originariamente preparato per l'autunno del 2022, nel tentativo di convincere Iran e Hezbollah a partecipare. E' quanto rivela il New York Times che ha visionato i resoconti di 10 incontri segreti di Hamas che le forze israeliane hanno trovato a Gaza. Â
Questi documenti provano la determinazione di Yahya Sinwar nel cercare di convincere gli alleati a partecipare all'attacco o almeno impegnarsi ad una più ampia offensiva con Israele a seguito dell'attacco a sorpresa di Hamas. Nel tentativo di convincere Hezbollah, i leader di Hamas nelle riunioni hanno fatto riferimento alla "situazione interna" in Israele - riferendosi molto probabilmente alle tensioni e proteste per la riforma giudiziaria varata dal governo di Netanyahu - come una delle ragioni che spingevano alla "battaglia strategica". Â
Nel giugno del 2023 Hamas ha inviato un suo comandante in Libano, dove ha incontrato un comandante iraniano per chiedere l'aiuto di Teheran per colpire siti sensibili all'inizio degli attacchi. L'Iran e Hezbollah, gli era stato detto, sostenevano in principio i piani ma avevano bisogno di più tempo per prepararsi. Hamas avrebbe dovuto discutere dei dettagli dei piani in un successivo incontro con il leader di Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah. Â
Secondo la ricostruzione del New York Times, pur sentendo di avere il sostegno degli alleati, Hamas alla fine ha deciso di procedere all'attacco senza il loro pieno coinvolgimento, in parte per realizzarlo prima che Israele potesse sviluppare un sistema di difesa aerea avanzata. Â
I documenti confermano inoltre che la tempistica dell'attacco è stata motivata dal desiderio di Hamas di ostacolare gli sforzi per normalizzare le relazioni tra Israele e Arabia Saudita. E che Hamas ha evitato scontri consistenti con Israele per due anni, a partire dal 2021, per massimizzare l'effetto sorpresa dell'attacco del 7 ottobre. Â
Nelle riunioni si ripeteva che "bisogna mantenere il nemico convinto che Hamas vuole la calma a Gaza". Infine nei documenti si fa riferimento al fatto che i leader di Hamas di Gaza illustrarono il "grande progetto" a Ismail Haniyeh, il leader che viveva in Qatar e che è stato assassinato lo scorso luglio dagli israeliani mentre era in visita in Iran.Â
