(Adnkronos) - "Grave preoccupazione per la sicurezza dei civili nel Libano meridionale nel mezzo della più intensa campagna di bombardamenti israeliana dallo scorso ottobre". A sottolinearlo all'Adnkronos sono fonti Unifil, che spiegano come "il tenente generale Aroldo Lazaro, capo missione e comandante Unifil è in contatto sia con le parti libanesi che con quelle israeliane al fine di sottolineare l'urgente necessità di allentare la tensione. Sono in corso sforzi per ridurre le tensioni e fermare i bombardamenti". Â
"Qualsiasi ulteriore escalation di questa pericolosa situazione potrebbe avere conseguenze di vasta portata e devastanti - avvertono da Unifil - non solo per coloro che vivono su entrambi i lati della Blue Line, ma anche per l'intera regione. Secondo quanto riferito dalle autorità libanesi, centinaia sono stati uccisi o feriti. Gli attacchi contro i civili non solo costituiscono violazioni del diritto internazionale, ma potrebbero costituire crimini di guerra".Â
Unifil "ribadisce il suo forte appello per una soluzione diplomatica ed esorta tutte le parti a dare priorità alle vite dei civili e a garantire che non siano messe in pericolo. È essenziale impegnarsi nuovamente per l’attuazione della risoluzione 1701 del Consiglio di sicurezza delle Nazioni Unite, che ora è più importante che mai per affrontare le cause alla base del conflitto e garantire una stabilità duratura".Â
