(Adnkronos) - Il referendum in Moldova sulla modifica della Costituzione e sull'adesione all'Ue è in bilico, con i 'no' (50,1%) e i "sì" (49,9%). Al momento, con il 97% dei voti scrutinati, è testa a testa. Si tratta di un risultato che in pochi si aspettavano, poiché diversi sondaggi recenti indicavano che il sì avrebbe vinto senza problemi. Â
La Moldova si è recata ieri alle urne sia per le elezioni presidenziali che per il referendum. Votazioni che hanno segnato un momento chiave nel tira e molla tra Russia e Occidente sul futuro del piccolo paese dell'Europa sudorientale senza sbocco sul mare, con una popolazione di circa 2,5 milioni di persone. Â
"La Moldova ha dovuto affrontare un assalto senza precedenti alla libertà e alla democrazia, sia oggi che negli ultimi mesi", ha detto la presidente filo-occidentale del Paese, Maia Sandu, durante lo spoglio dei voti delle presidenziali, aggiungendo che "gruppi criminali" hanno cercato di "indebolire il processo democratico".Â
Le accuse contro Mosca della presidente moldava includevano il finanziamento di gruppi di opposizione pro-Cremlino, la diffusione di disinformazione, l'ingerenza nelle elezioni locali e il sostegno a un importante programma di acquisto di voti. Sandu ha parlato di "attacco senza precedenti alla libertà e alla democrazia del nostro Paese" da parte di "forze straniere": "Stiamo aspettando i risultati definitivi e risponderemo con decisioni ferme", ha aggiunto.
