(Adnkronos) - Un sistema di deterrenza convenzionale e armamenti standardizzati: per Alessandro Politi, è questa la chiave per affrontare le nuove sfide della difesa europea. "La Nato è un'alleanza politico-militare e nel quadro europeo è un facilitatore. Anche molti aerei sono stati realizzati dalla Nato. Ci sono state polemiche in passato, ma in realtà dai tempi di Madeleine Albright molte cose sono state fatte, su suggerimento anche degli americani che ci hanno detto di fare qualcosa di europeo", afferma il direttore della Nato Defence College Foundation, parlando durante il panel 'Difesa, l’industria tra coordinamento e competitività ', nel corso della conferenza organizzata da Adnkronos/Eurofocus 'La nuova Commissione Ue: un accento su Difesa, Mediterraneo e Housing'. Â
"Noi italiani volevamo un'agenzia europea e dobbiamo costruire insieme una sistema di deterrenza convenzionale - aggiunge Politi - che di fronte ai sistemi di peace keeping sui quali eravamo impegnati non si poteva affrontare. Dobbiamo avere in Europa armamenti standardizzati. Non possiamo dipendere da un unico fornitore e quelli europei sono molto importanti. E' un obiettivo concreto e abbiamo tempo 10 anni per costruire una deterrenza credibile". Â
"Aumentare la spesa militare? Bisogna aumentare la spesa ma anche la resa - consiglia l'esperto - La spesa americana adesso sta aumentando di nuovo, ma è scesa negli ultimi anni, bisogna essere realisti. E' importante spendere meglio, non di più. Italia è tra i 5 primi paesi della Nato nelle missioni. Abbiamo problemi di bilancio, dobbiamo spendere di più ma soprattutto meglio. Essere capaci di produrre invece di andare ad acquistare fuori. Capire che c'è un equilibrio fra spesa militare e stabilità interna". Â
"Il commissario alla Difesa ha un compito immane - conclude - parte da zero e il compito di coordinare 27 Stati è pesante. La difesa della Nato va bilanciata con gli acquisti che facciamo. Gl interessi europei vanno interpretati per lo sviluppo della Nato e viceversa. L'obiettivo è assicurare la difesa e la deterrenza in modo da rilanciare l'economia europea. Uniti si fa qualcosa e avere un referente che possa dialogare con gli altri è molto utile". Â
