(Adnkronos) - "È più che mai necessario giungere a un cessate il fuoco immediato per porre termine alla sequela di orrori che si sono susseguiti dal 7 ottobre dello scorso anno ad oggi e scongiurare l’allargamento del conflitto, prospettiva che gli accadimenti recentissimi rendono purtroppo vicina e concreta". Lo dice il presidente della Repubblica, Sergio Mattarella, in occasione del primo anniversario degli attacchi di Hamas contro cittadini di Israele.Â
"Ferma condanna e forte indignazione ha suscitato, in Italia e nel mondo, il barbaro attacco condotto da Hamas contro inermi cittadini israeliani lo scorso 7 ottobre 2023. A un anno di distanza, grande è la vicinanza e la solidarietà della Repubblica Italiana al popolo israeliano così ignobilmente colpito", afferma il presidente della Repubblica.Â
"Nel deplorare nuovamente quel brutale atto terroristico, partecipiamo con commozione al dolore delle famiglie delle vittime e rinnoviamo l’appello affinché le persone prese crudelmente in ostaggio con pratica disumana, vengano liberate e possano ricongiungersi ai loro familiari", prosegue il capo dello Stato. Â
"L’Italia - dice Mattarella - sostiene convintamente il diritto di Israele alla propria esistenza in pace e sicurezza e alla difesa dagli attacchi, nel rispetto del diritto internazionale e del diritto internazionale umanitario".Â
"In questo anno - rileva - gli effetti di quella tragedia si sono moltiplicati, investendo incolpevoli popolazioni dell’intera area, mentre si diffondono gravi e inaccettabili recrudescenze di sentimenti di antisemitismo, da condannare e contrastare con determinazione". E "profonda è la preoccupazione per la condizione dei civili a Gaza, la cui popolazione ha patito indicibili lutti e sofferenze e ha diritto ad essere sottratta alle distruzioni e alla violenza della guerra".Â
Sottolinea il presidente della Repubblica: "Occorre una definitiva soluzione negoziata tra Israele e Palestina che, con il concorso della comunità internazionale, preveda la creazione di due Stati sovrani e indipendenti. Ciò è indispensabile per garantire pace e sicurezza durevoli ai due popoli e all’intera regione, e per evitare che l’ostilità , l’avversione e il risentimento accumulatisi in questi mesi producano in tutto il Medio Oriente nuove e sempre più drammatiche esplosioni di violenza".Â
"È una responsabilità che, se compete, in primo luogo, a israeliani e palestinesi, deve vedere attivi tutti i popoli amanti della pace, affinché l’orrore del passato non si ripeta, provvedendo sin d’ora a stabilire i termini di un futuro di intesa tra tutti gli Stati della regione", afferma il capo dello Stato.Â
