(Adnkronos) - Correggere miopie fino a -18 diottrie e ipermetropie fino a +8 diottrie è possibile anche senza la classica chirurgia laser. L'alternativa è offerta dalle lenti intraoculari Icl che rappresentano una soluzione avanzata per la correzione dei difetti visivi e offrono ai pazienti la possibilità di migliorare la propria vista in modo definitivo, senza dover ricorrere a occhiali o lenti a contatto.Â
"La qualità visiva che i pazienti ottengono con le Icl è senza paragoni, perché vedono meglio sia che con gli occhiali sia che con le lenti a contatto e spesso anche meglio che con la chirurgia laser. Sono di gran lunga, dal punto di vista qualitativo, la miglior soluzione con in più il vantaggio di essere reversibile e aggiornabile in futuro", spiega Andrea Russo, medico oculista del Gruppo refrattivo italiano, specializzato in chirurgia refrattiva, che aggiunge: "Se l'occhio nel corso dei decenni dovesse andare incontro a qualche piccolo fisiologico cambiamento, con le Icl potremmo facilmente aggiornare la correzione in base alle future necessità del paziente".Â
Le lenti intraoculari Icl vengono impiantate attraverso un intervento chirurgico totalmente indolore che si può eseguire in ambulatorio e che ha la durata di soli tre minuti per occhio. "Viene iniettata nell'occhio una piccola lente fatta di materiale gelatinoso, quasi liquido perché composta al 90% da acqua. Il paziente si alza che già vede a fuoco. Sarà presente un po' di bruciore e un po di lacrimazione nelle prime ore seguenti la correzione seguente di intervento, ma la mattina successiva il paziente potrà guidare la macchina e recarsi alle proprie attività quotidiane", prosegue Russo che per concludere sottolinea la sicurezza delle Icl: "Sono lenti che hanno un profilo di sicurezza veramente elevato e sono anche le uniche lenti intraoculari fachiche approvate dalla Fda. Si tratta di una tecnologia nuova, ma comunque ben collaudata. Da oltre vent'anni vengono ormai impiantate nel mondo con enorme successo e con un numero di casistica sempre crescente proprio grazie alla loro qualità ".Â
Con un tasso di soddisfazione che raggiunge il 99,4%, le Icl si configurano come un'opzione ideale anche per coloro che presentano problematiche oculari specifiche che possono limitare le alternative chirurgiche. Â
L'efficacia delle lenti Icl è confermata anche dai pazienti, come spiega Riccardo Mazzocchi, paziente che conviveva con forti difetti visivi: "Il miglioramento è stato notevole. La mia vita quotidiana è cambiata, sono più libero di fare cose, come ad esempio lo sport, senza essere più vincolato da occhiali e lenti a contatto". Â
