(Adnkronos) - New Zealand vince entrambe le regate di oggi 18 ottobre contro Ineos Britannia, conduce 6-2 ed è ad un passo dal trionfo nell'America's Cup 2024. I detentori del trofeo ipotecano il successo finale in una giornata chiave. Domani la giornata decisiva con altre due regate per chiudere la 37a Coppa America in anticipo sul calendario. A New Zealand manca solo un successo.Â

Il sorpasso dei kiwi arriva nel primo lato e nella prima virata, che costringe Britannia a lasciare acqua ed entrare nei rifiuti di New Zealand, anche chiamata Taihoro in omaggio alla componente Maori delle isole oceaniche. Â
La prima boa viene girata con 12" di vantaggio sui britannici, nel frattempo la giuria allunga il campo di regata visto il vento in aumento. A metà gara i secondi di vantaggio sono 20 e in progressivo aumento, la distanza supera ampiamente i 700 metri nel quinto lato. L'ultima boa vede un distacco mostruoso di 53", New Zealand taglia il traguardo con un distacco di un minuto e 13". Â

Partenza New Zealand sulla sinistra, una manovra speculare a quella della regata precedente. I detentori del titolo confermano di essere superiori in bolina e arrivano alla prima boa con 15'' di vantaggio. Nel secondo lato la distanza aumenta a oltre 400 metri fino a sfiorare i 500 metri. Secondo giro di boa: 25" di vantaggio del defender e nel terzo lato il distacco supera il mezzo km. Terzo giro di boa: 41" di ritardo per Britannia e neozelandesi avanti di quasi 700 metri.Â
Distacco che diminuisce di poco nel successivo giro di boa, di conseguenza anche i metri di distanza scendono intorno ai 500. Ancora recupero inglese nel successivo lato, 23" il distacco sul cronometro. Nel sesto lato, New Zealand riprende il largo e vince in scioltezza.Â
