(Adnkronos) - Muriel Furrer non ce l'ha fatta. La 18enne ciclista elvetica, caduta ieri durante la gara su strada femminile juniores ai Mondiali di Zurigo 2024, è morta oggi in seguito alle gravissime conseguenze riportate nell’incidente.Â
A darne l'annuncio l'Uci: "È con grande tristezza che l'Unione Ciclistica Internazionale e il Comitato Organizzatore dei Campionati del mondo di ciclismo su strada e paraciclismo su strada Uci 2024 a Zurigo (Svizzera) hanno appreso oggi la tragica notizia della scomparsa della giovane ciclista svizzera Muriel Furrer". Â
"Con la scomparsa di Muriel Furrer, la comunità ciclistica internazionale perde una ciclista con un futuro luminoso davanti a sé. La ciclista diciottenne è caduta pesantemente ieri, giovedì 26 settembre, durante la gara su strada femminile juniores, e ha riportato una grave lesione alla testa prima di essere trasportata in ospedale in elicottero in condizioni molto critiche. Muriel Furrer è purtroppo scomparsa oggi all'ospedale universitario di Zurigo", prosegue la nota.Â
"L'Uci e il Comitato organizzatore dei Campionati del mondo di ciclismo su strada e paraciclismo UCI 2024 esprimono le loro sincere condoglianze alla famiglia di Muriel Furrer, ai suoi amici e alla sua Federazione Ciclistica Svizzera. La famiglia di Muriel Furrer chiede che la loro privacy sia rispettata in questo momento così doloroso".Â
