(Adnkronos) - La rinuncia di Novak Djokovic al Masters 1000 di Parigi-Bercy, di cui è campione in carica, ha aperto molti interrogativi sul futuro prossimo del 37enne tennista serbo. In molti infatti hanno ipotizzato che Nole, alle prese con diversi problemi fisici nel corso degli ultimi anni, vada sempre più verso il ritiro, seguendo così le orme dei Big Three che lo hanno preceduto, ovvero Federer prima e Nadal poi. A scansare un po' di nubi sul futuro prossimo di Djokovic però ci ha pensato la moglie, Jelena: “Se posso aiutare Novak a continuare a giocare a tennis perché è questo che lui vuole, sono pronta a farlo e a rimanere al suo fianco", ha detto a La Nacion.Â
Da oltre vent'anni insieme, Jelena Djokovic è la madre dei due figli di Nole e attualmente guida la sua Fondazione: "Viaggio meno per via dei bambini, ci sono tanti tornei e la carriera di Novak va avanti. Adesso sta scegliendo i posti giusti dove andare, vi assicuro che farà quello che vuole per tutto il tempo che vuole. I bambini adorano quello che fa e io lo sostengo, siamo molto orgogliosi di lui".Â
La donna ha sempre accompagnato e sostenuto Djokovic nel corso della sua carriera, e ha intenzione di continuare a farlo: "Per me è stata una favola, un sogno impossibile da realizzare che lui però immaginava fin da bambino. La verità è che ci sono state pochissime persone sul suo cammino ad aiutarlo, ma lui è sempre stato un gigante dal punto di vista mentale, è riuscito a ottenere molto più di quanto ci si aspettasse". Â
Jelena ha parlato anche delle emozioni per il trionfo alle scorse Olimpiadi di Parigi: "Quando ha vinto l’oro ero in tribuna a piangere di felicità , pensando a cosa sarebbe successo dopo. Le Olimpiadi sono state un obiettivo difficile da raggiungere, gli ci è voluto molto tempo, ma so per certo che non si fermerà qui. Per me è un onore vivere con lui e aver avuto l’opportunità di trarre ispirazione da lui".Â
"Mi piace vederlo come un campione della gente comune, non dei ricchi", ha raccontato, "è un uomo semplice che proviene da una famiglia semplice, laboriosa e sognatrice. Viaggiando per il mondo ho visto tante persone che si ispirano alla sua storia perché sono simili a lui. Il tennis è uno sport che molti considerano un lusso, uno sport d’élite, ma i tifosi di Novak sono persone normali con un lavoro normale. Quando cammini per strada ti rendi conto che tutti lo fermano, questo è qualcosa che gli dà molta forza ed energia per andare avanti. Anche se ha già ottenuto tutto, penso che la sua migliore vittoria sia essere il campione del popolo".Â
