(Adnkronos) - Luna Rossa sconfitta nella finale della Louis Vuitton Cup. Ineos Britannia vince l'undicesima regata della serie, oggi 4 ottobre 2024 si aggiudica la sfida per 7-4 e si qualifica per la finale dell'America's Cup. La barca britannica sfiderà il defender, Team New Zealand, dal 12 al 27 ottobre nel mare davanti a Barcellona. Per conquistare il trofeo, bisognerà vincere 7 regate.Â

La barca di Sir Ben Ainslie parte in testa e guadagna metri nel primo tratto, Luna Rossa recupera, passa in testa ma dopo la virata perde terreno. Ineos allunga fino a portare il vantaggio a 9'' alla seconda boa. Luna Rossa continua a navigare nei rifiuti di vento di Britannia, nel terzo lato la distanza continua a essere superiore ai 150 metri. Al giro di boa distacco di 11" e distanza variabile tra i 200 e i 150 metri nel quarto lato. Â
Altra boa e le distanze si accorciano, sono 7 i secondi di distacco all'inizio del lato di bolina, alla prima virata di Luna Rossa la distanza varia dai 70 ai 100 metri. Altra virata italiana e il gap è poco sopra i 50 metri poi intorno ai 25 metri, a tratti sotto i 20. La sesta boa dichiara 4" di distacco con Britannia sempre in testa.Â
Penultimo lato con 8" di distacco tra le due barche, passaggio all'ultima boa con una differenzadi 9'' tra le due barche: fine dei giochi per Luna Rossa, che non ha nessuna chance di ridurre il gap. Ineos Britannia taglia il traguardo con 17'' di vantaggio, vince la Louis Vuitton Cup e va a sfidare New Zealand per l'America's Cup.Â

"Abbiamo fatto un grande lavoro come squadra, sono orgoglioso di quanto fatto e voglio ringraziare tutti. E' un momento duro per me e per tutto il team", dice Francesco Bruni, uno dei due timonieri di Luna Rossa, a Sky Sport. "Non siamo riusciti a portare a termine il lavoro ma Luna Rossa tornerà forte. E' dura, pensiamo di avere la barca per essere in finale e di potercela giocare con New Zealand. Non ci siamo riusciti e questo è un grande dispiacere", aggiunge.Â
"Brava Britannia, è stata protagonista di una serie fantastica. E' davvero dura per la squadra, non siamo riusciti a portare a termine quanto realizzato. Ci avevano dato una barca davvero competitiva. Luna Rossa è come una famiglia, è dura ma questo è lo sport. Ho costruito un rapporto umano con la squadra che va oltre i risultati. Il miglior team ha vinto", dice l'altro timoniere James Spithill. Â
