La conoscenza dell'Universo si arricchisce di una nuova, storica scoperta. È stata infatti svelata la fotografia del buco nero al centro della nostra galassia, la Via Lattea. Si tratta della prova definitiva dell'esistenza di Sagittarius A*, il "gigante supermassivo" più vicino a noi, scoperto grazie alla collaborazione internazionale tra Event Horizon Telescope (Eht), Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica (Inaf), Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (Infn) e le Università Federico II di Napoli e di Cagliari.
Pubblicato in 10 articoli su The Astrophysical Journal Letters, il risultato è annunciato in tutto il mondo a partire dalla Germania, con l'European Southern Observatory (Eso).
